How are Contributions Used?
In short, funding allows the Eye-Bank to fulfill its mission to restore sight and to realize its potential as a leader among eye banks. This fund has been critically important in supporting: The Gift of Sight: Funds enable us to continue to provide restored vision to hundreds of people every year in need of a cornea transplant. Gifts help to reduce or waive eye tissue processing fees for patients unable to afford medical procedures when a cornea transplant is required to restore sight. Eye and Vision Reasearch Program: These are funds which provide seed grants for scientific inquiry into new treatment for vision impairment and causes and cure of a wide range of blinding eye conditions. Research is the only hope for those who suffer from vision impairments for which no treatments yet exist. Professional and Public Education Programs: As a human service organization dedicated to sight restoration, we have a need to educate the community about eye, organ and tissue donation. In addition, we have a social responsibility to focus our outreach efforts on eye injury prevention and eye health promotion. Funding of educational materials and awareness programs is crucial in our quest to restore and preserve sight throughout our service areas.
